BALK RESIDENCE, BANORA POINT EAST
Coaker’s Building Service undertook this interior renovation and restoration in 2018. The owners were after a raw and earthy moody aesthetic, so we chose to use timber as the main accent of the house drawing inspiration from the hardwood trusses which we exposed and restored. Raising the height of the ceiling by exposing the trusses gave the 1980’s brick family home the feeling of much more space, a great way to update a living area as it’s the place the owners (and most families) choose to spend their times indoors.
We decided to convert a small utilities room adjoining the Kitchen into a butlers pantry complete with sink, dishwasher and refrigerator as well as pantry shelving and broom space. A great way to keep the mess closed away! Coaker’s Building Service constructed barn doors to cover the lounge room and butlers pantry which frame either side of the Kitchen. The impressive charcoal bench top is 500mm thick textured stone.
