COAKER RESIDENCE, BANORA POINT
We purchased a small asbestos and brick vanneer circa 1970’s home in 2013 with the pending arrival of our first Child, and plans to renovate. As much as we love a good retro home, she was well weathered and worn, beyond repair with electrical damage, roof and internal box gutter damage. Also fire damage in the tiny kitchen and the teeniest bathroom. Overall the home was approx 9 x 20m. But, like any building pre 1990, she had good bones!! Beautiful hardwood bones. See ‘Before’ photo’s in gallery below
In 2016, after the birth of our second child, it was time to take the plunge and really expand our home. The living area and front bedroom was extended forward 1500mm, we than placed an additional ensuite to the main bedroom. While the kitchen and bathroom were extended 3 metres to the back. We both have large families and entertain often with friends, so we opted for a large open concept living and Kitchen with french doors and bifold windows opening to the back deck. A short walk takes you up to the outdoor entertaining area complete with brick wood fired Pizza Oven. The bathroom was expanded to a luxury scale, housing a deep boxed in bathtub, floor to ceiling tiles, large shower and family size stone top vanity. We added a large deck at the front of the home to enjoy the ocean views over Fingal and Kingscliff and retained the front of the property with a sandstone wall. Two additional bedrooms were added, extending the back 6m and we moved in just shy of the birth of our third child in 2017.
